Principal Consultant – Board Advisory & Executive Search
I’m currently working on a Principal Consultant opportunity in the Chicago market with a highly respected executive search and board advisory firm. The organization specializes in board advisory services and executive board placements, with a reputation and expertise in boardroom talent that is widely recognized across the industry.
This is a high-impact, client-facing role supporting the CEO and Senior Client Partners on retained board and executive search assignments. Unlike many search roles, this position does not require business development responsibilities, allowing the individual to focus fully on execution, client delivery, and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute retained board and executive search assignments
- Partner closely with CEOs, boards of directors, and senior executives
- Conduct executive assessment, market mapping, and candidate evaluation
- Manage search processes from strategy through completion
- Build trusted relationships with board members and executive-level candidates
- Deliver exceptional client service in a highly consultative environment
Qualifications
- Mandatory: 5+ years of retained executive search experience
- Experience supporting C-suite and/or board-level searches strongly preferred
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple high-level search assignments simultaneously
- Highly organized, relationship-driven, and detail-oriented
- Bachelor’s degree required
