Technical Leadership in Aerospace: Principal Composites Engineer
Hours: Monday - FridayPrideStaff, a national recruiting firm, has been engaged by a confidential industry leader in Dayton, OH, to find a Senior Staff or Principal Composites Engineer. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role designed for a technical expert who thrives on taking complex composite structures from initial concept to full-scale production.
As a subject matter expert, you will bridge the gap between design and manufacturing, serving as a mentor to the engineering team while driving innovation in aerospace and defense programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Mastery: Develop, validate, and optimize advanced manufacturing processes, including layup, curing, bonding, and machining.
Technical Oversight: Review and approve composite designs and structural analyses to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
Problem Solving: Lead complex root-cause analyses for material or part failures and implement effective corrective actions.
Material Innovation: Evaluate and qualify new composite materials and adhesives to improve performance, cost, and throughput.
Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and program management to integrate materials and processes (M&P) requirements into every build.
Experience: 10+ years of composite manufacturing experience (8+ years with an M.S. degree), with a heavy emphasis on hands-on shop-floor involvement.
Industry Focus: At least 8 years specifically within the Aerospace & Defense sector.
Expertise: Deep knowledge of composite fabrication, structural bonding, and statistical design allowables.
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Compliance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Travel: Willingness to travel 10–15% as needed.
