Principal Civil Engineer / Office Leader (Los Angeles or Orange County)
SB&O Inc. is expanding, and we are seeking a senior-level leader to establish and grow a new office in Los Angeles or Orange County.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional who is ready to step into a leadership role with significant autonomy, backed by an established and growing firm with a strong presence in Southern California.
About the Role
We are looking for a Principal-level Civil Engineer with 20+ years of experience in land development who can lead business development, manage key client relationships, and drive the growth of a new regional office. The ideal candidate brings an existing book of business and has the ability to generate immediate revenue while building a high-performing local team.
Key Responsibilities
- Launch and lead a new SB&O office in Los Angeles or Orange County
- Leverage existing client relationships to bring immediate projects and revenue
- Drive business development and expand market presence in the region
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, profitability, and client satisfaction
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a growing team of engineers and designers
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategy, operations, and growth
Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land development
- Proven track record of business development and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Existing book of business with the ability to transition work
- Strong leadership experience, including team building and office management
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California
- Deep understanding of Southern California development processes and agencies
