About the Role

Typhur is hiring a Principal AI Engineer, Growth / VP of AI Growth to lead the AI and algorithmic systems behind our next stage of consumer growth.

This is a rare opportunity for someone with deep experience in recommendation systems, ads optimization, ranking algorithms, content distribution, or growth modeling to apply that expertise directly to a fast-scaling consumer brand.

You will own the AI-driven growth engine across organic content, paid media, DTC traffic, attribution, and conversion optimization. The ideal candidate has worked on algorithmic growth, ads delivery, recommendation, exposure, or performance optimization systems at companies such as Google, YouTube, TikTok, Meta, Amazon, or similar high-scale platforms.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the founders. You will have a real seat at the table in shaping how Typhur grows across the U.S. market.

What You’ll Own

AI-Driven Growth Strategy

Build and lead Typhur’s AI-powered growth strategy across paid media, organic content, DTC traffic, creator campaigns, and retail expansion.

Translate platform-level growth insights into brand-level execution, including how content gets discovered, how ads scale, and how budget should be allocated across channels.

Content Performance & Distribution

Develop systems to analyze and improve short-form and long-form video performance across YouTube, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

Identify what drives impressions, engagement, watch time, conversion, and viral lift.

Partner with creative, content, and marketing teams to turn algorithmic insights into repeatable content strategies.

Paid Media & Google Ads Optimization

Own optimization across Google Ads and other performance marketing channels, including impression share, ROAS, bidding strategy, audience targeting, attribution, and budget allocation.

Build AI-driven models to improve media efficiency, reduce wasted spend, and scale profitable acquisition.

DTC Traffic & Conversion Modeling

Develop traffic, conversion, and LTV models to optimize customer acquisition across Typhur’s direct-to-consumer business.

Build systems for full-funnel attribution, cohort analysis, CAC/LTV forecasting, and channel-level ROI measurement.

Use data and AI to improve the entire customer journey from first impression to purchase and repeat engagement.

Growth Infrastructure

Build the data, modeling, and experimentation infrastructure needed to support high-velocity growth.

Design dashboards, models, and decision systems that help the company understand which content, channels, products, and campaigns are driving the most value.

Partner closely with engineering, marketing, product, creative, and founder teams.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, data science, recommendation systems, ads optimization, growth algorithms, ranking systems, or performance marketing technology.

Strong hands-on experience with at least one of the following areas:

Recommendation systems

Ads ranking or ads delivery optimization

YouTube / TikTok / social content distribution algorithms

Performance marketing optimization

Growth modeling and attribution

LTV, CAC, ROAS, or conversion modeling

Large-scale experimentation and A/B testing

Deep understanding of how digital platforms optimize exposure, impressions, engagement, and conversion.

Strong technical background in machine learning, statistics, data modeling, and experimentation.

Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into structured models, systems, and measurable outcomes.

Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, product, engineering, analytics, and executive teams.

Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate in a fast-moving, founder-led environment.

Preferred Background

Experience at Google, YouTube, TikTok, Meta, Amazon, Netflix, Snap, Pinterest, or another company with large-scale ads, recommendation, content ranking, or growth systems.

Experience scaling consumer products, DTC brands, marketplace businesses, or subscription / e-commerce products.

Experience with Google Ads, YouTube Ads, TikTok Ads, Meta Ads, or retail media networks.

Experience building internal AI tools for marketing, content analysis, attribution, or budget optimization.

Experience working with consumer hardware, smart devices, IoT, or AI-powered products is a plus but not required.

Compensation

Total compensation for this role ranges from $300K to $600K, depending on experience, seniority, and scope of responsibility.

Location

This role is based in San Jose, CA. We are open to candidates who can work closely with the founding team in person or in a hybrid capacity.
