WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Public Health Services is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic professional who has a desire to serve the community and upholds a commitment to public good. Candidates should display cultural awareness, openness to learning, positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and adaptability.

Provide general office and clerical support to all programs of the Silver Spring Health Center- Maternal Child Health Programs, including direct services to women and children. The PAA willreceive visitors, respond to inquiries, provide appropriate assistance to/or refer callers to the appropriate offices for assistance.


Application Intake

  • Data entry of applications and documentation into the EICM database and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Reviews clients Eligibility/Demographics in EICM and EVS.
  • Completes Urgent Referral for supervisor review.
  • Responsible for updating Excel spreadsheets and data entry for clients eligible for MPP services.


Administrative Tasks

  • Answers incoming phone calls, retrieving voice mail and returning calls to customers, providing program information and/or referrals to customers.
  • Responds to client/community partner requests in program's email database.
  • Open, sort, screen, prioritize, and route incoming mail and faxes in a timely manner.
  • Keeps office supplies and forms organized, monitors appropriate supply and compiles supply order requests.
  • Assemble and prepare materials for distribution.
  • Responsible for filing, faxing, photocopying and other related duties as assigned.


Office Support

  • Serves as initial communicating contact for the HSS unit reception area, assists general public, answers routine questions, provides program information.
  • Provides administrative support to the clinical staff and supervisor.

Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.


Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible office support experience.


Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substitute

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:


  • Experience working with Montgomery County Maryland Electronic Integrated Case Management System (eICM) and the Maryland Department of Health Electronic Verification System (EVS),
  • Experience working in a medical office environment, verifying insurance coverage, and scheduling medical appointments.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to complete work tasks
  • Knowledge and experience referring clients to community resources & services available through public/private agencies to assist clients.
  • Multilingual Spanish proficiency
