JOB SUMMARY

The Associated Students for Klamath Community College (ASKCC) advocates for the student body by creating opportunities for campus and community engagement and providing access to resources based on the individual and collective needs of students.


PURPOSE

  • Serve as a communication liaison among students, staff, administration, faculty, and clubs.
  • Assist in facilitating student/club events and activities within the guidelines of Klamath
  • Community College (KCC) policies and procedures.
  • Serve on shared governance KCC Committees and Councils, as requested, and report information to students via the ASKCC minutes. Advisor will appoint a student to each council.

This ASKCC officer position works closely with the Student Life Coordinator and the First Year Experience Coordinator. The pay for this position is a monthly stipend of $625. The contract period for this position is July 2026 - June 2027.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Serve ten (10) mandatory office hours per week.
  • Draft and send out weekly meeting agendas.
  • Preside over weekly ASKCC meetings.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for ASKCC.
  • Schedule a monthly board preparation meeting with ASKCC advisor, Vice President of Student Affairs, and the President of Klamath Community College.
  • Attend the monthly Board of Education meetings as a non-voting member.
  • Sign monthly ASKCC stipend sheet.
  • Present to CGS classes and at NSO each term.
  • Be visible and active at all ASKCC events/activities.
  • Coordinate with ASKCCC advisor to arrange informational events or trips related to legislation at the local, state, and federal level that will directly impact the KCC student body.
  • Act as primary representative for ASKCC in the Oregon Community College Student Association (OCCSA).
  • Coordinate with ASKCC advisor to plan annual retreat before fall term.
  • Be the lead for the ASKCC Legacy project.
  • Organize and execute annual Student Recognition Awards (SRA).
  • Draft email correspondence to students, staff, and faculty on behalf of ASKCC.
  • Lead end of the year recruitment efforts for next cohort.
  • Draft and send an end of the year letter to students.
  • Meet with the ASKCC Advisor(s) weekly for support and guidance.
  • Assist other officers as deemed necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.


SHARED DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attend and report at weekly ASKCC meetings.
  • Attend at least one (1) Board of Education meeting per term.
  • Attend at least one (1) ASKCC and OSL event per month.
  • Host and attend one day during Welcome Week each term.
  • Attend two (2) Student Government and professional development trainings.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with advisor.
  • Participate in yearly ASKCC retreat prior to fall term.
  • Participate in term performance evaluation.
  • Participate in end of the year group and peer to peer evaluations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

  • None.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a current student at Klamath Community College.
  • Must have a cumulative and per-quarter minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.
  • Must have attended a new student orientation (NSO).
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credits (post-high school or GED).


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to commit to yearlong assignment and serve in summer, fall, winter, and spring term.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Frequently moving from stationary sitting positions to standing and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
