Central States is creating a new Pre-Sales / Construction Engineer role—a critical, front-end position that sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and construction.
This isn’t a traditional back-end engineering role. This is where projects are defined, shaped, and set up to win.
You’ll work directly with contractors, design-build partners, and internal teams to bring clarity to scope, guide early decisions, and ensure projects are positioned for successful execution from day one.

What You’ll Do
- Partner with Sales to support contractors during preconstruction
- Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define scope early
- Identify gaps, risks, and inconsistencies before estimating begins
- Provide technical guidance and budget alignment in early project phases
- Act as the bridge between customers and internal teams
- Help move opportunities efficiently from concept → estimating → execution
What Success Looks Like
- Projects are clearly defined before hitting estimating
- Fewer downstream surprises and rework
- Strong alignment across Sales, Engineering, and Estimating
- Increased win rates and repeat contractor relationships
What You Bring
- 5+ years in preconstruction, estimating, or construction engineering
- Experience with Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) (MBS strongly preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings & specs
- Experience working with contractors, builders, or design-build teams
- Strong communication skills—able to translate technical concepts clearly
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
