Pre-Court Supervisor - Juvenile Probation

The Pre-Court Supervisor supervises and oversees the pre-court unit. This position handles all duties and functions involved with the court process and any and all other duties involved with the unit itself. This position also works closely with juvenile probation departments regarding anything dealing with sex offenders and interim officer duties.

Reviews all offense reports from intake and detention and assigns cases to pre-court officers.
Handles records request from federal or state agencies.
Attends and presents at various staffing and administrative meetings.
Proofreads any court reports and documents for upcoming court hearings.
Reviews time sheets for pre-court employees, making corrections as necessary.
Trains new employees for basic certifications; monitors and implements new laws related to the department.
Oversees sex offender registration duties, law updates or training, including TJJD updates for sex offenders.
Monitors and supervises probation review hearings.
Oversees employee related functions, including new employee interviews and hires.
Tracks and monitors funds used for interpreters for any non-English speaking clients.
Substitutes in court or in any way needed for pre-court officers absent or needing assistance with duties.
Assists with updates or designs of any pre-court, court related, or interim forms.
Assists in monitoring caseload for all interim juveniles including documentation and correspondence.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.


Performs other related duties as required.

Bachelor's degree in related field and minimum three years of experience insocial service, community, corrections or juvenile agency that deals with offenders or disadvantaged persons; equivalent education may be substituted for experience requirement.

In addition, per Chapter 344 of the TAC or any successor statute, the minimum qualifications of the Pre-Court Supervisor are that the candidate:

  1. be at least 21 years of age;
  2. have no disqualifying criminal history as described in the TAC;
  3. never have had any type of certification revoked by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department;
  4. complete the training required by the TAC; and
  5. pass the certification exam as required by §344.700 of the TAC or any successor statute.

Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department required.

Must attain certification in the Handle with Care Behavioral Management System, or a successor behavior management system, within the first 30 days of employment and maintain certification in accordance with the recertification intervals established in Texas Juvenile Justice Department standards

Must attain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross within the first 30 days of employment and maintain certification in accordance with the recertification intervals established by the American Red Cross or successor authority.
