QTEC Aerospace is seeking a MODELING & SIMULATION (M&S) SYSTEMS ENGINEER (Kinematic Mod/Sim Systems Engineer) to join our team of professionals at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will join a group of engineers that generate the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the Threat Modeling Center (TMC).

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Responsible for reviewing customer scenario requests and providing feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins
  • Responsible for reviewing final documentation and data to ensure the customer's objectives are met and the high-resolutions data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the TMC
  • Responsible for generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC'S Threat Modeling & Simulation Suite (TMSS) and for troubleshooting products and data
  • Will be expected to work closely with TMC's system engineering and software developments groups

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline preferred with 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years' experience with a Maters' of Science degree; or a PhD and 1 year of related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • This role requires employees to be onsite daily with no option for remote/hybrid work
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs
  • Experience with modeling and simulation
  • Familiarity with the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of missile systems
  • Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF0 trajectory representation
  • Familiarity with missile defense systems components and their interoperability
  • Understanding of Linux and Windows based platforms and associated software
  • Quality control experience with a strong background in test and troubleshooting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of missile targeting and allocation and "Red Force" laydowns
  • Experience with infrared and radar cross section (RCS) signatures
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or software development and testing, especially with Agile methodology
  • Experience working within the Missile Defense Agency, especially related to Ground Test exercises/events
  • A current DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.

Salary Range

The salary range below represents a general guideline; however, QTEC considers a number of factors when determining base salary such as the scope and responsibilities of the position as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $166,000
