Power Systems Engineer

Power Distribution | Engineering Leadership

Are you an experienced power systems engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and customer engagement? This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior‑level role that blends hands-on electrical engineering, business development, and technical leadership—where your expertise directly drives both project success and company growth.

We’re seeking a Power Systems Engineer with deep experience in low- and medium‑voltage systems (120V–35kV) who enjoys working directly with clients, identifying opportunities, and delivering reliable, code‑compliant electrical solutions. You’ll support a full-service electrical contracting and engineering organization known for its expertise in power distribution, system studies, safety, and reliability.

This role offers autonomy, visibility, and impact—ideal for an engineer who wants more ownership, influence, and long‑term career satisfaction.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and expanding scope with existing clients across industrial, commercial, and utility markets.
  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with facility managers, engineers, contractors, and key decision-makers.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the full project lifecycle—from pre‑sales through commissioning.
  • Conduct site visits, technical assessments, and client presentations to understand needs and propose customized power system solutions.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates, and technical narratives that highlight compliance, safety, system reliability, and overall value.
  • Lead the design of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems (up to 35kV), including single-line diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform detailed power system studies including arc flash, short circuit, coordination, protective device evaluation, and relaying.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower to deliver accurate, code‑compliant analyses.
  • Develop engineering solutions focused on system upgrades, safety enhancements, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards.
  • Manage projects from concept through commissioning, including scope development, schedules, budgets, and coordination with internal teams and customers.
  • Provide senior‑level troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and field support for electrical systems.
  • Support safety programs including arc flash mitigation, LOTO procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with construction teams and internal departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay current with evolving codes, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the organization.
  • Represent the company through industry networking, professional organizations, and client-facing events.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in power systems engineering with hands‑on low- and medium‑voltage design experience.
  • Proven success in technical sales, business development, or client-facing engineering roles.
  • Strong background in arc flash studies, power system analysis, and distribution design up to 35kV.
  • Experience managing electrical design-build or construction-related projects.
  • Deep understanding of power distribution, protection, grounding, and electrical safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, and design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or Revit.
