Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have specific responsibility and leadership for the Roll Stock and Pouch Lines with oversite of the Sleeve Production of the Hamilton Wide Web Value Stream within SQF Certification expectations. As a front-line supervisor, you will train, lead and teach troubleshooting to operators, ensuring a safe work environment that drives quality production while maximizing profitable growth. You will oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly expectations.


Pay and Benefits

Pay: Salary exempt, $70,000-$100,000/year based on experience

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Daily leads the safety, quality and production activities of the Roll Stock, Pouch and Seaming Areas by actively participating in the site’s Safety and Quality Management Programs.
  • Ensures that SQF programs and procedures are adopted and adhered to support all SQF Standard Work Instructions, Policies and Practices.
  • Operates daily with Safety programs and procedures in place to guard against industrial accidents and protect the safety and well-being of area employees.
  • Works closely with Quality to address CIPs, implements process controls and conduct root cause analysis to identify ways to improve and maintain acceptable product quality.
  • Partner with SQF, Safety, Quality and Production Teams to establish necessary standard operating procedures and work instructions to direct the most efficient, cost-effective and highest quality process.
  • Works with Plant Scheduling, OOR and CS to establish and reach hourly goals, so that we can maintain and improve our OTS efforts / goals.
  • Works with HR on Attendance Tracking, 30-60-90 Day Plans and Develop Coaching and/or Action Plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.
  • Leads and implement Lean / Continuous improvements for cost reduction, quality assurance and production with all associated Supervisors, Leads and direct reports through regular engagement.
  • Works cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of Lean and Belonging through Daily MDI Gemba Walks, Shift Huddles and Operator Engagement.
  • Reviews Key Performance Indicators (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure area is on track to meet overall departmental objectives and Daily 9AM Feedback.
  • Develop and learn lean manufacturing techniques to implement process improvements, lead kaizen events, and direct projects for the optimal use of manufacturing resources.
  • Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality and productivity, by establishing training checklists/standard work to oversee results and operator development.
  • Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance tasks and procedures as outlined by Equipment Suppliers and Maintenance Team.
  • Work together professionally in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with SQF Code/Policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and team-building skills to achieve organizational objectives
  • Assess and develop individual and team capabilities to enhance performance
  • Ability to set-up, trouble-shoot and train on Laminating Equipment, Pouch Lines, Seaming Equipment and/or Coating / Slip / Embellishment Application Equipment is required.
  • Operating Hudson, Totani or like pouch making equipment experience is required.
  • Understanding of Laminating and Seaming equipment is required.
  • Have working knowledge/certification of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts with demonstrated success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Education and Experience

  • 1+ years of supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Flexible Packaging including but not limited to Roll Stock, Pouch and/or Sleeve manufacturing is required.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s / Technical Degree or 5+ years equivalent experience (significantly and directly related)


Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals; OSHA safety standards enforced.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive tasks requiring bending, reaching, and stooping.
  • Ability to operate equipment and visually inspect product.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
