Project Description:
The Sr. Post Production Engineer oversees all postproduction workflows, hardware, and software for the department. This role ensures a stable and efficient technical environment, enhancing the visual quality of content through advanced technologies and processes.
There are a number of ongoing projects that this individual will be supporting – overall support of the Avid infrastructure, cloud storage and solutions, and more.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role:
- Monitors and manages departmental data centers—including shared storage, LTO, Interplay, and VMware—and oversee the implementation of new equipment.
- Tests, improves, and creates new systems workflows across the department’s technical infrastructure and managing large-scale software deployments.
- Investigates and resolves A/V, software, and hardware issues in collaboration with internal teams and vendors, while documenting system errors and optimizing network performance by addressing outages and connectivity issues.
- Provides technical support to editorial staff, specializing in Avid workflows, system maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality audio/visual output. Serves as a key liaison for staff, vendors, and cross-functional teams, delivering prompt and effective support across systems and networks
- Develops, tests, and maintains custom scripts to automate workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Oversees virtual machines and associated workflows to support scalable and efficient operations.
- Researches and implements software and hardware upgrades across the department’s system environment as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Must Have Skills / Requirements:
- 3+ years in post-production editorial environment.
- 3+ years as assistant editor in Avid environment.
- 2 + years in scripting development (Perl, Java Script, Shell Scripting)
- Highly proficient in Avid Infrastructure and Avid workflows
- Understanding of Avid Interplay, Avid Nexus, lifecycle of how media goes into Avid all the way through editorial, all the components and associated infrastructure
- Skilled in Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, Stornext, and Isilon
Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements:
- Previous entertainment industry experience required.
- Live Production, Advanced Desktop Support, Advanced Networking and troubleshooting preferred.
- Previous experience in Customer Service preferred.
- Experience in content marketing a plus.
- Working knowledge of Telestream Vantage, and DaVinci Resolve
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Available 24/7 during critical periods; able to respond to urgent issues at any time.
Education / Certifications:
- Avid Certified is a plus – Certification in Interplay and Nexus is highly preferred
