The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting forPolice Recruit!This position is an entry-level, non-sworn position in the Police Department. Successful candidates will be sent to a P.O.S.T. Basic Academy and must satisfactorily pass all of the requirements that lead to the possession of the P.O.S.T. Basic Certification. Appointment in this position is limited to the duration of the Police Academy. Employees in this class normally work under close and continuous supervision. Academic progress and physical achievement are closely monitored during this training period. Upon successful completion and graduation from the Police academy, recruits shall be appointed to the position of probationary Police Officer.

Licenses/Certificates Required: Possession of an appropriate, valid State of California driver's license. Must be age 21 by date of appointment. Possession of P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate within one (1) year of appointment.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE RECRUITMENT TIMELINE:
1. Email notifications will be sent following the recruitment closing date on Wednesday, May 20, to invite candidates who did not already submit a passing eligible T-score to for in-person, proctored Pellet Bexam testing, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
- If you already have a T-score, it must be attached to your application when submitted and please note only passing eligible T-scores will be directly invited to the physical agility. Eligible T-scores must meet the following requirements below:
- Must have received a T-score of 42 or higher.
- Must have received the T-score within the last 12 months.
-Proof of T-score must be provided on agency letterhead.
2. Candidates taking the Pellet B exam will receive a notification regarding their T-score once the scores are fully processed through POST. All candidates with a passing eligible T-score from either taking the exam with the City of Yuba City or providing it at time of application will be moving forward and invited to the mandatory physical agility tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.
3. Candidates who successfully complete the physical agility will be invited to oral interviews tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
