(After completion of training, $52,776 Salary + $4,300 State Incentive)
Applicants must be 21 years of age; eligible to work in the U.S.; high school graduate or equivalent; in good physical condition and possess a valid driver's license. Applicants having afelony conviction or having a Domestic Violence convictioncannot be considered as directed by Kentucky State Statute. Comprehensive testing, including stamina and agility, written, psychological, polygraph and physical will be administered. Physical agility/written assessments will be scheduled at a later date and applicants will be notified of the various locations/times of the events.
An extensive background investigation will be performed. Copies of birth certificate, social security card, driver's license, high school diploma or GED, separation from military service form DD214 (Member-4 copy), if applicable, will be requested for submission at a later date.

Maintain all Patrol Officer qualifications and abilities required by Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC), City of Hopkinsville, and City of Hopkinsville Police Department.
Respond and assist other officers to respond to citizen complaints, domestic problems, neighborhood disturbances and/or nuisances.
Perform well under stress.
Capable of using crime prevention arms and equipment in a safe and effective manner to defuse a situation or subdue a suspect.
Use of proper radio technique, emergency equipment, and safe operation of a patrol cruiser.
Ability and mental acuity to direct traffic, recognize potential public safety problem, detect unusual behavior pattern of a suspect or citizen and react accordingly.
Diplomatic and courteous to fellow officers, supervisors, citizens, or suspects at all times.
Professional appearance and bearing to provide testimony during court proceedings.
Physically able to subdue and place anyone violating the law into custody.
Knowledge of city geography, road locations, and interior layout of major buildings.
Communicate clearly and comprehend communications from others.
Maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances as well as department policy and procedure.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern law enforcement techniques.
Prepare accurate daily activity reports using proper grammar and punctuation.
Respond to questions by the public concerning legal advice and determine appropriate action to consider when addressing the citizen complaint.Graduate of an accredited high school or GED.
Successfully graduate from the Kentucky Law Enforcement Academy.
Successfully complete the City of Hopkinsville Field Training Officer Program.
Successfully complete the City of Hopkinsville Firearms Certification Program.
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
