Job Title: Plumbers Helpers

Job Description

The Plumber Helper supports construction projects by accurately measuring and cutting metals to specification, installing materials, and assisting with plumbing and pipe-related tasks. This role involves using basic hand and power tools, reading and interpreting blueprints, and guiding other workers on assigned tasks to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Use measuring tools to take accurate measurements and cut metals to precise specifications.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and installing materials.
  • Assist with pipe fitting and plumbing-related tasks, including working with PVC and cast iron materials.
  • Read and interpret construction blueprints to understand project requirements and installation details.
  • Guide and direct tasks for other workers based on blueprint information and project needs.
  • Move and stage materials safely around the construction site to support ongoing work.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to complete assignments on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools to obtain precise measurements.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools in a construction or similar environment.
  • Capability to guide and coordinate tasks for other workers based on project plans.
  • Knowledge of working with PVC and cast iron materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including moving materials on a construction site.
  • Reliable work ethic and ability to follow safety procedures consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction is beneficial.
  • Previous pipe fitting or plumbing experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with installation work in a construction environment is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with tools and follow technical instructions.
  • Basic leadership skills to support and direct other workers on site.

Work Environment

This role is based on an active construction site, involving both indoor and outdoor work depending on project needs. You will regularly use measuring tools, basic hand tools, and power tools while working with materials such as metals, PVC, and cast iron. The position requires wearing steel-toed shoes and long pants as part of the dress code, along with other standard personal protective equipment provided on site. Work may involve standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the day in a fast-paced, physically active environment that prioritizes safety and teamwork.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
