Overview / Job Description
A large consumer health and packaged goods organization is seeking a Pilot Plant Technician to support operations within an R&D pilot plant facility. This is a hands-on role responsible for equipment setup, cleaning, maintenance, and supporting product development activities.
You will partner closely with Process Engineers and cross-functional R&D teams to ensure efficient pilot plant operations, including batching, filling, and sample preparation. This role requires strong attention to detail, physical capability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, assemble, disassemble, clean, and sanitize pilot-scale processing and filling equipment
- Support Process Engineers during batching, compounding, and filling activities
- Stage raw materials and assist with pilot plant production workflows
- Execute cleaning verification and assist with validation initiatives
- Prepare and fill product samples (aerosols, creams, lotions, etc.)
- Perform daily scale verifications and support equipment calibration activities
- Maintain equipment logs, room logs, and accurate documentation
- Monitor inventory of cleaning materials, spare parts, and processing supplies
- Coordinate with external vendors for water testing and support reporting
Required Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment
- Strong attention to detail with ability to complete documentation accurately
- Basic computer skills (web-based systems, training modules, documentation)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to lift equipment and stand/walk for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and flexibility for overtime/weekend work
- Understanding of safety practices in manufacturing environments
Plusses
- Experience in pilot plant, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food manufacturing environments
- Experience with processing equipment such as homogenizers, pumps, or fillers
- Familiarity with cleaning validation processes
- Experience working in explosion-proof (XP) environments
- Associate degree or technical certification
