The Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant (SWWTP) is one of two wastewater treatment facilities for the City of Springfield. The SWWTP is capable of continually treating 64 million gallons per day of Springfield's wastewater, and 100 million gallons per day for shorter periods. The average daily flow at this time is approximately 35 million gallons per day. The City of Springfield is committed to protecting the water quality of the Ozarks for many generations to come. The SWWTP is an award winning facility for it high quality of treatment it provides. It has received its Platinum 8 NACWA Award for zero NPDES violations for the 13th consecutive year.
The Plant Operator III shall perform specialized skilled work in the operation and routine maintenance of sludge conditioning and thickening equipment, mixed media filtration, cryogenic oxygen generation and ozone generation facilities.
**THIS POSITION WILL WORK EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY & EVERY THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY - 2:30PM - 2:30AM**Check out our AMAZING benefits here!Experience, Education, and Training- Two years of college or vocational technical training in wastewater technology, chemical or biological sciences or a related area;
AND- Three years experience in an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant, or in a closely related area;
- Two years of experience may be substituted for a degree in biology, environmental science, or related field;
- Directly related work experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification- Must possess a Missouri Class "C" Wastewater Operator's Certificate;
- Class "B" Wastewater Operator's Certificate is desirable;
- Must obtain and maintain a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements within the following guidelines: Pass written portion of exam within 90 days of employment and skills test portion within the probationary period.
