Job Title: 1st Shift Maintenance Planner
Job Description

The 1st Shift Maintenance Planner plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, planning, and documenting preventative, predictive, and project maintenance strategies for all plant and facility equipment. This position defines and tracks maintenance schedules, estimates required hours, parts, and supply costs, and ensures that maintenance activities are executed efficiently and effectively. The role collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance leadership to build and sustain a comprehensive maintenance program that supports operational reliability and uptime. The Maintenance Planner uses an Oracle-based CMMS system to plan work, coordinate downtime, and align labor and materials to meet organizational maintenance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and document preventative, predictive, and project maintenance strategies for all plant and facility equipment.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Review work orders, determine the scope of work, and accurately estimate required parts, materials, labor hours, and supply costs.
  • Coordinate with Production to identify appropriate downtime windows for maintenance work and align schedules to support production goals.
  • Ensure all required parts and materials are identified, ordered, and available prior to scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager and maintenance leadership to plan timing, staffing, and labor support for scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Use an Oracle CMMS system to enter, track, and manage work orders, maintenance plans, schedules, and associated documentation.
  • Develop and plan predictive and preventative maintenance programs, including frequency, tasks, and resource requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and other locations to bid out programs and projects, supporting cost-effective and timely execution.
  • Create, implement, and refine maintenance-related policies, processes, and rules to standardize and improve maintenance operations.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and schedules, identifying opportunities for improvement and adjusting plans as needed.
  • Leverage strong computer and Excel skills to analyze data, build reports, and support decision-making for maintenance planning.
  • Independently troubleshoot planning and scheduling issues, resolve conflicts, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance operations, contributing to lean and efficient processes.
  • Collaborate with tool and die, stamping, and other operational areas to ensure maintenance plans align with tooling and equipment needs.
Essential Skills
  • 5–7+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production scheduling, or maintenance planning.
  • Hands-on knowledge of maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using CMMS systems, specifically Oracle WBN or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of tool and die manufacturing and related equipment requirements.
  • Proven experience developing and planning predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to create, implement, and enforce policies, processes, and rules related to maintenance activities.
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering and other sites to bid out maintenance-related programs and projects.
  • Strong computer proficiency, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve independently and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Comfort working within an Oracle-based CMMS to plan, schedule, and track maintenance work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Automotive manufacturing background is highly desirable.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience in maintenance, production, or related functions.
  • Continuous improvement experience, including Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Formal training in maintenance, reliability, or continuous improvement is a plus.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor who prefers a planning-focused role without managing an entire team.
  • Exposure to PLC troubleshooting and Fanuc robotics is beneficial.
  • Journeyman card or equivalent skilled trade background is an advantage.

Work Environment

This role operates on 1st shift, typically around 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. The facility is very large, bright, clean, and highly organized, with a massive maintenance and tool and die shop that supports complex manufacturing operations. Certain areas, particularly those with stamping equipment, can be loud, and appropriate hearing protection is provided and expected where required. The environment is production-focused, with close collaboration between Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams, and extensive use of an Oracle CMMS and computer-based tools throughout the day. Uniforms are available and provided if desired, supporting a professional and practical dress standard suited to a manufacturing and maintenance setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $83000.00 - $134000.00/hr.
