Must Haves


  • 2–5+ years detailing mechanical systems for a contractor (HVAC duct, hydronic/process piping, plumbing, and equipment)
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP) and Revizto; Fabrication CADmep/ITM experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to build fabrication-level 3D models (LOD 400) for ductwork, piping, plumbing, and equipment
  • Experience reading/interpreting plans, specs, submittals, and one-lines/P&IDs
  • Mechanical or semiconductor background; data center and field knowledge (5+ years)
  • Stability (no job hopping)
  • Field or trade experience considered
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication; ability to own deadlines and collaborate across office, shop, and field


Plusses


  • Experience with trade coordination and clash detection (Revizto)
  • Familiarity with codes/standards: IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, MSS, local codes
  • Experience supporting change orders, RFIs, and updating as-builts/record models
  • Ability to perform QA/QC checks (clearances, slope, valve/access, supports, code compliance)
  • Contribute to VDC standards, content libraries, and continuous improvement

Job Description

As a VDC/BIM Detailer, you’ll transform design intent into highly constructible 3D models and coordinated shop drawings for HVAC and piping systems. You’ll collaborate with project managers, field leaders, and fabrication to drive coordination, prefabrication, and flawless installation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build accurate, fabrication-level 3D models (LOD 400) for ductwork, piping, plumbing, and equipment using Revit and Fabrication tools
  • Apply company standards for families, parameters, naming, and file structure in ACC/BIM 360
  • Generate annotated shop drawings, spool sheets, hangers/supports, sleeve/penetration plans, and equipment layouts
  • Export layout/point files for total station/Trimble; issue CNC/fab deliverables for the shop
  • Run/participate in clash detection (Revizto), track issues, and drive resolution with GC and other trades
  • Maintain federated models, viewpoints, and issue logs; document decisions and model changes
  • Respond to RFIs, support change orders, and update as-builts/record models
  • Perform QA/QC checks and contribute to VDC standards and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate with PMs, superintendents, foremen, and vendors; align model deliverables with project schedules and milestones
