EXAMINATION INFORMATION
EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an Applicant’s academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate’s application and on academic training based on required credentials.
JOB DUTIES
Under supervision, installs and repairs steam lines and equipment and maintains and repairs temperature controlling apparatus. Performs related duties as required. TYPICAL TASKS: Installs and repairs regulators, traps, meters, and valves. Installs and repairs heating systems, oiling systems, feed-water heaters, tanks, and boilers. Installs and repairs pumps. Installs and repairs stoker and condenser equipment. Installs and replaces piping. Repacks valves and pumps. Operates a pipe cutting and threading machine. Does oxyacetylene and electric welding on iron and steel pipes when required. Performs other tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a Pipefitter Completion ofApprenticeship Certificate. Must have five years of full-time paid Journeyman (post apprenticeship) Pipefitter experience. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. Must be able to climb a 40’ ladder and work off a scaffolding or swing stage for long periods of time. Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a physical to meet this respiratory requirement after hiring. Valid State of Ohio driver’s license required.

VETERANS’ PREFERENCE
Veterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214, must be presented to the Commissionat the time of filingapplication for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service connected disability.NOTE:Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
