Job Title: Pipe Yard Worker
Job Description

A leading manufacturer in the pipeline industry is seeking a Pipe Yard Worker to join their team. This role involves assisting with manual labor in the pipe yard, including strapping down pipes onto 18-wheelers, loading and unloading materials, and moving large pipes around the yard. There is potential to learn forklift operations to move the pipe.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor tasks such as strapping down pipes onto trucks.
  • Move materials within the pipe yard, which involves handling large pipes.
  • Load and unload pipes on outbound trucks.
  • Assist with general duties as assigned.
  • Potential to learn to operate a large forklift for moving pipes.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in a non-climate controlled environment, working 100% outside.
  • Material handling experience.
  • General labor experience.
  • Ability to speak Spanish.
  • Experience with order pulling, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with pipes, valves, or flanges.
  • Heavy forklift operation experience.
  • Familiarity with part numbers.
  • Handling heavy fabricated materials.
  • Inventory management and shipping/receiving experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in a 20-acre pipe yard located in Houston, TX. The position requires working outdoors in a non-climate controlled environment, which can get hot during summer months. The pipe yard office has around 15 employees, primarily female, who handle inventory. The work schedule is 1st shift from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with potential for additional hours based on production demands. Saturdays are worked by 70% of employees, typically for 6-8 hours, with an expectation of 55+ hours weekly, reaching 60+ during peak times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
