Location: Martha Jefferson Hospital- Charlottesville, VA
Status: Full Time (40 Hours/wk)
Shift: Days/Evening (11 hour shifts / 7 Days in 2 week period)
Hours: 9am-8pm*
Every Other Weekend & Holiday Rotation
*Hours may vary outside of listed hours to meet Pharmacy staffing needs
The Pharmacy Tech II- Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
Work in ED to get medication history from patients
Discuss with patient or anyone with patient what meds patient currently is on
Call pharmacies, PCP, Nursing home to gather additional med history if needed
May also work in central Pharmacy (Filling meds, delivery of meds)
Participates in the training of new employees
Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care
Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Certification/Licensure
Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)
Experience
2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)
Emergency Department Medication History Experience (Preferred)
