Pharmacy Technician II - DeKalb Pharmacy - FT - 2nd Shift

Promotes optimal patient outcomes by assisting with medication reconciliation. Interviews patients and reviews medication-related documentation for the purpose of compiling a medication history for patients being admitted to the hospital. Compiled history information is entered into the patient’s electronic health record for the purpose of facilitating medication reconciliation by the admitting provider. May perform a variety of functions which impact the medication reconciliation process and patient care. Seeks assistance/clarification from a pharmacist with any questions or issues that may arise.


License, Certification and/or Registration:

• Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 30 days of hire date, and registration must be in good standing “active”.

• National certification with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians) required.

• In the case of PTCB or ExCPT renewal, “active” status must be attained within 30 days of the expiration of the current certification (this provides a 30-day grace period for the employee).

Education Required: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Combination of both inpatient and outpatient experience preferred, particularly outpatient/retail experience.
