The Oncology Pharmacy Program Coordinator Resident is a PGY2 Resident that is responsible for projects while rotating through various experiences and leading initiatives over the course of the year. The resident will collaborate with other disciplines to optimize and improve medication use technologies. The longitudinal experiences in clinical informatics, pharmacy automation management, and data analytics will enhance the experience of the resident.
What's this role all about?
- Ensures safe and effective use of pharmacy automation and technology systems.
- Responsible for integration of operational/clinical workflows into pharmacy informatics and automation systems.
- Manages the design, analysis, implementation, and integrating automation technology and the electronic medical record (EMR) creates efficient/safe medication use processes to support pharmacy.
- Leads and supports multidisciplinary project teams in the development, delivery and enhancement of clinical technology and pharmacy automation to support operational improvement.
- Serves as the pharmacy informatics subject matter expert and liaison to external departments.
- Responsible for monitoring drug utilization and drug expenses and implementation of cost savings initiatives through technology enhancements.
- Performs routine analysis and quality assurance of pharmacy services and implement quality improvement measures for improving organizational performance for areas of responsibility.
- Maintains detailed documentation pertaining to routine operational SOPs, education materials and visual aids related to pharmacy processes and workflows in areas of responsibility for all providers as applicable.
- Creates, reviews, and coordinates decision support tools and content to maximize best practice care delivery through collaboratively working with other healthcare team members to provide safe and effective services.
- Participate as a member of pharmacy department and health system teams and EIS committees.
- Communicates clearly and timely with variety of health care team members and problem solves with appropriately to determine solution or decision.
- Training, onboarding, and professional development of pharmacists for areas of responsibility.
- Participates in the education and training of pharmacy staff, residents, interns, students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Complies with departmental and medical center policies/procedures.
