The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (Anne Arundel County) is currently recruiting for a Personnel Officer (Administrative Officer I)position. This position is open to anyonewho meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below.

Nature of Work: The primary purpose of this position is to support the Administrative and Training Section through the application and implementation of personnel policies and procedures that require independent judgment and direction. The position addresses all aspects of human resources, including, but not limited to, personnel transactions, classification, recruitment, retirement, health benefits, consultant processing, training, rewards and recognition programs, payroll, file management and mailroom operations.
This role supports office plans, programs, and activities as assigned and provides direct assistance to the Administrative Chief and Assistant Administrative Chief in carrying out their responsibilities. The position delivers administrative support and human resources services for the Office of Traffic and Safety’s (OOTS) 221 career services and consultant employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One (1) year experience in administrative or professional work.
Selective Qualification:One (1) year of the required experience must have involved experience in human resources and/or the development or coordination of training programs.

1. Candidates may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
