Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Manager - Bilingual Spanish/English (Hybrid)

Driver Defense Team
Villa Park, IL

About Us

DDT Law Group — Driver Defense Team — is one of the fastest-growing law firms in Illinois. We're 10 attorneys and 35 team members across three Chicago-area locations, and we've been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing companies three years running.

Our personal injury practice fights for injured drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bike riders — helping them get the medical care they need and the compensation they deserve after a bad day on the road.

We move fast, communicate clearly, and treat our team like adults. We already have two remote PI paralegals on staff, and we're now hiring our first local, hybrid PI Paralegal to help us grow the department.

The Role

This is a real seat at the table. Depending on your experience, you'll either:

  • Step in and help us formalize the systems that run the department — documenting SOPs, refining workflows, and helping us scale, or
  • Plug into defined workflows and grow into a senior role under an experienced team.

We're genuinely open on experience level. We care more about attitude, follow-through, and the ability to make clients feel taken care of than we do about years on a résumé.

Schedule & Location

Hybrid. You'll work from our Villa Park office a few days a week (moving to Park Ridge later this year) and from home the rest. Reliable transportation to the office is required.

What You'll Do

  • Manage PI cases from intake through settlement: open files, track treatment, build demands, negotiate.
  • Be the main point of contact for clients — keep them informed, calm, and moving through treatment.
  • Request, track, and organize medical records, bills, police reports, and wage loss documentation.
  • Draft demand letters, settlement statements, releases, and basic litigation pleadings.
  • Negotiate medical liens and reductions with providers, health insurers, and subrogation vendors.
  • Communicate with insurance adjusters, medical providers, and opposing counsel.
  • Keep our case management system clean, current, and accurate — every file, every day.
  • Calendar and manage statute of limitations deadlines.
  • If you have the chops: help document SOPs and build the playbook as we scale.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Spanish and English — spoken and written. A large portion of our clients are more comfortable communicating in Spanish. This is non-negotiable.
  • Strong organization and the ability to juggle 60+ active files without dropping the ball.
  • Clear, warm communication — clients trust you quickly.
  • Bias for action. You don't let things sit.
  • Comfortable with tech. We run on Salesforce for case management (we'll train you on our setup), plus Google Workspace, Adobe, and e-signature tools daily.
  • Either (a) prior personal injury paralegal experience or (b) a paralegal certificate / legal assistant background with a real hunger to learn PI.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work on-site in Villa Park now / Park Ridge by year-end.

Nice to Have

  • Experience at a plaintiff-side PI firm.
  • Prior experience at a firm using Filevine, Litify, CASEpeer, SmartAdvocate, or similar — a good signal you've worked at a serious shop.
  • Medical lien and subrogation negotiation experience.
  • Spanish-language legal vocabulary (depositions, medical terminology, insurance terms).
  • Experience building or documenting SOPs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65,000 – $85,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) with match
  • Hybrid schedule with genuine flexibility.
  • A clear growth path as the PI department scales — including leadership opportunity for the right person.
