Job Title: Permit / Project Coordinator

Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Permit / Project Coordinator to manage the full permitting lifecycle across a variety of projects. This individual will serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external regulatory agencies, ensuring all projects meet local codes, zoning requirements, and approval timelines.

This is a critical role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can proactively navigate complex permitting processes to keep projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full permitting lifecycle from initial research and submission through final approvals
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with municipalities, building departments, and regulatory agencies
  • Review architectural and construction documents for compliance with local codes and zoning requirements
  • Identify required permits and proactively drive submission, tracking, and approval timelines
  • Respond to plan check comments and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues
  • Partner with design and construction teams to ensure plans meet jurisdictional requirements prior to submission
  • Support inspections and ensure compliance with permit conditions throughout the construction process
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and jurisdictional nuances early and develop mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation, tracking systems, and reporting for all permits and approvals
  • Stay up to date on changes in local codes, regulations, and policies, and communicate impacts to stakeholders
  • Contribute to improving and scaling permitting processes as the company continues to grow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in permitting, code compliance, or project coordination
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes
  • Experience working directly with municipalities, plan reviewers, and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in a high-growth or startup environment
  • Process improvement or systems implementation experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
