Position Summary:

The Court Administrator is responsible for upholding the values and core beliefs of the City of Prescott and the mission and values of the Arizona Judicial Branch. Work involves supervising, managing, and leading the activities of the Prescott City Court including overseeing fiscal, budgetary, and personnel functions as well as setting goals and making policies in conjunction with the Prescott City Judge.


This individual serves at the will of the City Judge and has daily oversight and responsibility for all City Court operations including administrative, financial, facility, security, personnel, and other responsibilities as delegated by the City Judge. City issues are reported through the City Judge to the City Council, and Court related issues are reported through the City Judge to the Arizona Supreme Court.

Essential Duties:

  • Directs day-to-day court operations in support of court programs and services.
  • Recruits, screens, interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, manages, and supervises court personnel.
  • Provides direction to all regular and temporary employees assigned to the court.
  • Creates monthly remittance and reconciliation reports for state, county, and city governments; manages and oversees daily accounting operations; monitors budget data and assists in the formulation of budget plans; reviews and approves invoices; initiates budgetary controls.
  • Maintains financial integrity of the Prescott City Court in accordance with the Administrative Office of the Courts' Minimum Accounting Standards (MAS) in accordance with ACJA § 1-401.
  • Assists the City Judge in the strategic planning of programs, services, and facilities, and court compliance with reporting requirements to the Arizona Supreme Court and the City of Prescott.
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures to address the needs of the court system and to ensure the effective and efficient use of judicial resources.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public, or Judicial Administration, or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a two-for-one basis. A minimum of five (5) years of management experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Arizona Certified Court Supervisor (ACCS) through the Arizona State Courts (ASC), Certified Court Manager (CCM) through the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), or Certified Court Executive (CCE), or ICM Fellow preferred.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters and exercise the utmost discretion at all times.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance which permit the employee to work in an office environment, lift up to 20 pounds, and to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permit the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate, prepare, and file a variety of documents and materials.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone an in person.
