Our client is seeking a high-level Payroll Tax Compliance Consultant to lead a critical remediation and stabilization project. Following a recent migration to UKG, the organization requires a senior expert to audit their 26-state footprint, identify compliance gaps, and facilitate the strategic transition of payroll tax ownership from HR into the Finance department.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Risk Identification: Review all payroll activity post-migration to evaluate federal, state, and local tax compliance, including complex multi-state reciprocity scenarios.
- System Gap Analysis: Evaluate current UKG configurations and limitations; perform root cause analysis to determine if issues stem from system constraints, process failures, or knowledge gaps.
- Remediation: Identify and implement UKG workarounds or enhancements to mitigate multi-state taxation exposure.
- Process Integration: Partner with Finance leadership to stabilize tax operations and provide the necessary training and knowledge transfer to support the shift of tax ownership into the Finance function.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of Senior Payroll experience with a heavy emphasis on technical payroll tax compliance.
- Multi-State Expertise: Deep understanding of taxation across 20+ states, including reciprocity rules and local tax nexus.
- System Migration Track Record: Proven experience performing "cleanup" and risk remediation following a large-scale system migration (specifically into a UKG environment).
