A nationally recognized intellectual property practice is seeking a Patent Counsel with a strong technical background in Electrical Engineering to support its expanding patent prosecution team. The successful candidate will work closely with inventors, technology companies, startups, and established industry leaders to develop, protect, and strengthen valuable intellectual property assets. Key Responsibilities


• Prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

• Manage patent prosecution matters involving wireless communications technologies and artificial intelligence innovations.

• Advise clients on intellectual property protection strategies and portfolio development.

• Draft responses to USPTO office actions and examiner communications.

• Conduct patentability analyses and prior art evaluations.

• Collaborate directly with inventors, engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders.

• Develop and manage sophisticated domestic and international patent portfolios.

• Counsel clients regarding patent prosecution strategy and intellectual property risk management.

• Support innovations involving 5G, Wi-Fi, wireless networking, machine learning, robotics, and related technologies.

• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm's intellectual property practice.

Qualifications


• Minimum 2+ years of patent prosecution experience.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.

• Strong technical background in wireless technologies and artificial intelligence.

• Registered to practice before the USPTO or eligible for registration.

• Active bar membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the applicable jurisdiction.

• Experience managing patent portfolios and client relationships.

• Excellent analytical, technical, and legal writing skills.

• Strong verbal communication and presentation abilities.

• Ability to independently manage multiple patent matters and deadlines.

• Commitment to exceptional client service and professional excellence.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical field.
