Patent Associate (2–6 Years) – Denver, CO

A leading national law firm is seeking a Patent Associate with 2–6 years of experience to join its Intellectual Property team in Denver. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative technologies and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of attorneys and technical professionals.


About the Role

You’ll work on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio development, and strategic IP counseling. The team supports clients across cutting-edge industries such as software, AI, and advanced technologies, delivering creative and business-focused solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and manage IP portfolios
  • Support IP strategy, licensing, and enforcement matters
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including technical experts


Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of patent prosecution experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Admission to the USPTO (or eligibility to sit for the Patent Bar)
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment


Preferred Experience

  • Background in software, consumer electronics, or web-based technologies
  • Exposure to areas such as full-stack development, machine learning, generative AI, data structures, or databases
  • Prior industry or technical work experience
