Part-time Recreation Leader - Adult Athletics

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year (averaging 29 hours/week) and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.


Job Description

The part-time Recreation Leader is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations for Adult Athletics.This position will be responsible for assisting with the supervision of Gwinnett County Parks adult softball fields, programs and participants, as well as conducting testing bats for safety compliance andsoftball games, score keeping and assisting the public. This position is directly supervised by the full-time Program Supervisor.


Essential Duties

  • Ensuring the facility and fields are opened and closed on time
  • Performing and assisting with facility and field maintenance, as well as daily housekeeping duties inside and outside of the facility
  • Interacting with players, patrons, and umpires
  • Preparing score sheets and entering scores
  • Enforcing league rules and regulations
  • Setting up and taking down tables and chairs for rentals, if needed
  • Assisting special events and interest groups
  • Monitoring daily rentals and activities
  • Performing various clerical/receptionist duties such as answering phone calls, greeting customers, organizing and maintaining files, records of programs, reports and record keeping
  • Documenting first aid accidents and all incidents
  • Assisting in placing phone calls, flagging down medical personnel, and crowd control during an emergency
  • Overseeing the programs and activities when the Program Supervisor is not available
  • Performing all other duties as assigned


Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job requires weekend and evening work.


Grade

  • The grade for this position is 97.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver's license is required and must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • CPR/First Aid/Defibrillator Certification(must be attached to application) or must obtain within the first 3 months of employment Gwinnett County will provide training opportunity)
  • Experience in recreation programming, sports knowledge-specifically softball and customer service


Preferred Qualifications in addition to the minimum requirements

  • Experience in recreation programming and patron safety custodial
  • A working knowledge of softball/baseball
  • Knowledge of Gwinnett County Park locations
  • Skills in developing resources for program/service information
  • Problem solving skills in interpersonal relations, oral and written communications, effective customer service techniques and instructing others
