Public Works Operations & Maintenance is responsible for maintaining many elements of the City's public works infrastructure and for providing services that directly improve the quality of life of city residents, businesses and visitors. Public Works Operations is seeking a motivated and highly-collaborativePart Time Landscape Inspector (Part-time Maintenance Coordinator)to plan, organize, coordinate, and monitor assigned maintenance and trimming programs including but not limited to trees (Right-of-Way and Power Line Clearance), irrigation and landscape maintenance.
The selected Part Time Landscape Inspectorwill join the department's vision of instilling pride in Anaheim by continuing to be a world-class Public Works team who achieves results through innovation and quality. Qualified candidates will have journey-level experience in tree and landscape maintenance, including interpretation of contract specifications and lead-level responsibilities.
This is a part-time position typically averaging 30 hours per week. A minimum number of hours is not guaranteed. The schedule for this position requires weekend availability.
The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Plan, schedule, prioritize, and assign maintenance work in consultation with assigned supervisor and lead-level staff; communicate status of projects and activities to appropriate staff and contractors; working cooperatively to schedule in accordance with established priorities.
Inspect assigned City infrastructure, facilities, and right-of-way areas for maintenance needs and recommends appropriate actions; assist in developing short- and long-range work plans, procedures, and schedules.
Document all observed deficiencies in the form of: punch lists, formal memos, E-Mail or other means by which the service provider has warning and knows the expectations.
Train employees and contractors in work methods, use of tools and equipment, and relevant safety precautions; confirms plant materials and irrigation equipment are to contract specifications.
Recommends and justifies improvements to minimize City of Anaheim liability in the facilities, and right-of-way areas for maintenance needs and recommends appropriate actions; assist in developing short- and long-range work plans, procedures, and schedules.
Make field inspections to ensure acceptable maintenance service levels and completed work is in conformance with departmental standards, contracts, and specifications; evaluate work quality.
Provide feedback to supervisors and management on employee and contractor performance.
Estimate costs of maintenance work, supplies, equipment, and materials; order supplies and equipment for work projects; maintain records of purchase orders; assist in developing budget figures for assigned programs; monitor expenditures.
Serve as liaison between contractors and city staff; resolve minor complaints.
Review plans of new and/or renovation projects for conformance with contract specifications. This would include the enhancement of existing areas and up-grades of ROW sections including Irrigation; grading, drainage and planting.
Maintain accurate records and logs of daily activities; prepare and submit written reports, as required.
Review and assist in preparation of contract specifications and provide technical information for request for proposals for all phases of assigned projects.
Respond to citizen service requests to verify request needs; address citizen complaints and coordinate service requests completion dates as necessary.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
