Our client, industry-leading organization, is seeking a Part-Time Office Bookkeeper to join their team. As a Part-Time Office Bookkeeper, you will be an essential part of the administrative support team, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and smooth office operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully within the organization.

Part Time:15 hours per week

Part-time Office Bookkeeper to oversee the financial and business operations of the Church and Children’s Center. This ministry staff position plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the church through accurate financial management, integrity, and service.

Position Summary

The Office Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accounts payable and receivable, processing contributions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accurate and confidential financial recordkeeping. This position works closely with the Church Treasurer, Finance Committee, and church leadership and is supervised by the Senior Pastor, Office Manager, and Personnel Committee.

Key Responsibilities Financial Operations
  • Count, witness, and record Sunday offerings (checks and cash) each Monday.
  • Monitor online banking for electronic payments and contributions and update online giving reports.
  • Deposit all verified income, including electronic and mailed contributions, in a timely manner.
  • Post member contributions accurately, separating special gifts from general budget funds.
  • Pay approved invoices promptly and assign transactions to appropriate budgeted or designated accounts.
  • Maintain secure backups of all financial records using cloud storage.
Payroll and Reporting
  • Provide payroll processing agency with weekly or requested employee information (banking details, W‑4s, hours worked, paid/unpaid leave, etc.).
  • Prepare and distribute contribution statements twice per year (mid-summer and January for tax purposes).
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports and distribute them to the Diaconate, Treasurer, and Finance Committee ahead of scheduled meetings.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for all church accounts, special projects, and designated funds.
Communication and Office Support
  • Update financial information for publication in the weekly church newsletter.
  • Serve as a friendly, attentive, and professional presence for all who enter or contact the church office.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding church members’ and church financial records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
  • Experience in bookkeeping and general financial accounting practices.
  • Proficiency with financial management systems; experience with Automated Church Systems (Realm) preferred (training provided as needed).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to relate well to church members, committees, and business contacts with professionalism and respect.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical financial practices.
  • A lifestyle that reflects Christian maturity, ethics, personal morality, and the core values.
  • High School Diploma/GED
