Part-Time Bailiff / Courtroom Security Officer – Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, Office of Constable James Brawner
Type: Part Time, 29 hours per week or 58 hours per pay period (Subject to Call-Out & Schedule Changes)
$24.75 Hourly
(depending on qualifications and experience)JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidate will be directly responsible for the security of the Justice Courts in Precinct Four while in session and overall security of Brazoria County properties, buildings, employees, and citizens. The candidate will be responsible for any other assignments as dictated by the Constable, Chief Deputy, Sergeant, and/or His Designee.Specific Job Related Duties:
- Ensures the personal safety of the Judges and all persons in the courtrooms and surrounding areas;
- Screens and searches as necessary all people entering the courtroom to prevent the carrying of weapons and/or contraband items into the courtroom;
- Maintains security during all court proceeding including maintaining the custody of in-custody defendants;
- Makes arrests of subjects in court at direction of Judges, may assist in arranging transport of subjects to jail and ensures all documentation is accurate and adequate for arrest and detention;
- Monitors and operates security and radio equipment; and
- Maintains the necessary TCOLE training requirements for retain Texas Peace Officer License; and
- Performs such other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Must have Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) License
- Prefer a minimum of five (5) years with a law enforcement agency as a patrol officer, bailiff, or criminal investigations
