Parks Trailhead Maintenance Technician 1

This position assists in the maintenance of Borough parks, trailheads, and lake accesses.

Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

High School diploma or equivalent.

One year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Relevant experience may include janitorial skills, basic organization skills, clean driving record, ability to ticket and enforce park/trailhead rules, customer service, basic communication skills, basic hand/power tool and handyman skills.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Please note: Individuals may be assigned driving duties. If assigned driving duties/responsibilities, candidate must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.

• Collects parking fees and/or camping fees, processes credit cards, balances daily receipts and funds, and prepares deposits.
• Cleans restrooms at trailheads; operates a pressure washer; removes graffiti.
• Collects trash at trailheads; reports unauthorized vehicles and vandalism.
• Assists in the building and maintenance of trails.
• Downloads trail data and uploads into database system.
• Removes snow at trailheads.
• Assists the trails maintenance section in meeting project deadlines.
• Makes facility repairs as required.
• Performs related duties.
