Parks and Recreation Department is seeking two Part-time Service Workers for maintenance of athletic field and one Part-time Service Worker for maintenance of the trails.
Assists the Park Services Supervisors in their duties and supports the maintenance and/or use and care of Division facilities, properties, and shared-use sites.
Three days per week, 7AM – 3:30PM or as scheduled by supervisor. This position offers Paid Time Off benefits. Salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

When Assigned to Athletic Field Maintenance
Position Summary
The part-time athletic field maintenance worker performs day to day tasks for general park maintenance and recreation support activities; with an emphasis on athletic field maintenance, mowing, marking, and other related tasks. A well-rounded and experienced Turf Professional is preferred for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates motorized and hand-held equipment relative to work such as field marking machines, groomers, tampers, light trucks, mowers, etc.
- Operates of heavy equipment including but not limited to tractors, loaders, and skid steers. Operations are for field maintenance, parks maintenance, special projects, and/or snow removal services at all properties assigned.
- General athletic field maintenance including chemical application, special sporting field maintenance needs per sport, and mowing
- General Irrigation management including inspection, repair, and other maintenance of existing irrigation systems.
- Perform simple building and park maintenance activities (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, landscape, electrical, etc.) as necessary in support of department goals and objectives.
- Inspects facilities with various City agencies (i.e., Risk Management, Parks and Recreation, and Buildings and Grounds) to ensure compliance with applicable safety and maintenance standards.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with customers, peers, and others.
- Monitors and assists in the rental and use of Parks and Recreation managed (or shared) parks and facilities.
- Maintain accurate work logs, report hazards, and follow all safety policies and environmental regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote settings.
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, digging, hauling, and operating machinery.
- Exposure to environmental hazards such as uneven terrain, insects, wildlife, dust, and noise.
- Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
When assigned to Trails Maintenance
Position Summary
The Trail Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks involved in the construction, maintenance, repair, and enhancement of park trails and related natural areas. This role ensures that trail systems remain safe, accessible, environmentally sustainable, and enjoyable for public use. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and involves physical labor, use of hand and power tools, and interaction with the public.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, and repair natural-surface and paved trails, including grading, surfacing, drainage improvements, erosion control, and vegetation management.
- Install and maintain trail features such as steps, boardwalks, bridges, retaining structures, barriers, and signage.
- Conduct routine inspections of trail corridors to identify hazards, erosion, drainage issues, fallen trees, and safety concerns.
- Remove debris and hazardous vegetation; perform brushing, pruning, and tree-limb removal within trail clearance standards.
- Assist with ecological restoration efforts, including invasive species removal, habitat protection, and native vegetation planting.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as hand tools, power tools, chainsaws.
- Apply trail construction best practices (e.g., sustainable design principles, water management techniques).
- Interact with park visitors in a courteous, professional manner; provide information and respond to concerns about trail conditions.
- Maintain accurate work logs, report hazards, and follow all safety policies and environmental regulations.
- Support volunteer events, citizen groups, and partner organizations assisting with trail projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
