Pay Range: $19.00 per hour

FLSA Status: Non exempt, eligible for overtime compensation

Essential Duties:

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled park maintenance tasks including mowing and trimming park turf areas, raking, weeding, litter removal, and assisting with special event preparation, facility setup, and general park upkeep. Incumbents receive general supervision from the Irrigation Specialist, Parks Coordinator, and/or Maintenance Supervisors. Expected to work independently on routine assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire and possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Must be familiar with safely towing and maneuvering trailers as part of daily operational duties. Must be able to perform physical work outdoors under all weather conditions. Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required depending on special events.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of park and turf maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation of mowing and landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to operate mowing equipment, weed whacker, blowers, and other landscape maintenance tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to identify hazards such as debris, irrigation heads, uneven terrain, and unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to assist with general park maintenance tasks and special event setup as required.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and department policies.
