The Parks Department Facilities Maintenance Team is responding to the growing needs of the city. The fast-paced nature of our municipality drives innovation and efficiency. We are currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician – Parks.
Now you have an opportunity to join our Parks & Recreation department as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. This is a role responsible for the daily maintenance of the City of Redmond's 27 City-owned and/or operated buildings and related facilities. In this role, you join a team with the goal of providing welcoming, clean, accessible, and safe environments for City employees and the public.
Besides a great work environment, this position also offers a 9/80 work schedule. A 9/80 work schedule is a two-week schedule that divides 80 working hours amongst 9 days, typically consisting of eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and every other Monday off. This position may be subject to after-hours on-call standby shifts.

- Responsible for maintenance and repair of City buildings, structures to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and other general building maintenance.
- Assist with management of City vendor contracts including providing access and monitoring/coordinating work.
- Perform plumbing repairs to sinks, drinking fountains, drains, showers, toilets, sewer and storm systems.
- Read, interpret and utilize blueprints
- Install, maintain and repair building access systems including lock combination, key cutting and inventory, core combination, hardware installation and basic repair of electronic access devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair gates, garage doors, fire doors and other automated access devices.
- Perform winterization of domestic water lines and fire suppression systems.
- Maintain road infrastructure and asphalt repair (pathways and parking areas)
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain life safety systems including fire alarms, intrusion alarms and fire suppression systems.
- Perform commercial building modifications including structure changes like framing of walls, adding electrical outlets, improving lighting or otherwise reconfiguring buildings to better fulfill their intended purpose.
- Interior surface repairs such as drywall, tile and flooring.
- Interior and exterior surface prep and painting.
- Basic inspection and operational checks of HVAC and building plant components.
- Clean and/or repair building exteriors including roofs, gutters, windows, hard surfaces and walls.
- Installation of building amenities such as whiteboards, bulletin boards, televisions and artwork.
- Perform janitorial duties.
Education and Experience
- Any combination equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year grounds, landscape or sport field repair, maintenance and construction experience. Municipal experience preferred. Working with the public desired.
Licenses and Certificates
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets City standards.
- Additional licenses and certificates may be required:
- CDL, Class A
- Washington State Department of Transportation Traffic Flagging Certification
- First Aid/CPR
