Park Maintenance Aide - Coordinator
Under supervision, assists in maintaining areas under the jurisdiction of the Division of Parks Maintenance and Properties. Cuts and trims grass. Collects and removes rubbish and other debris. Collects and removes branches and other underbrush. Assists in maintaining athletic fields. Performs other job-related duties as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
  • Knowledge of various sporting activities
  • Previous experience with recreational sports scoring is preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

  • During the game: act as official scorer; prepare incident reports as needed (e.g., injuries, altercations on the field or in the park, etc.); notify league director immediately if safety forces are called to the field
  • Recreation Support staff for all summer youth baseball & softball activities at a City ball field/park.
  • Set-up the field of play before youth and teenage baseball and softball Division of Recreation league games.
  • Before the game begins:tie down all 3 bases and the pitching rubber on the field; ensure score board is set up and ready for the game.
  • Communicates the rules and procedures for game play.
  • Collects and removes rubbish and other debris as needed.
  • Collect the payroll cards with signatures from the game umpire and scorer; distribute game baseballs for both teams; prepare official game score sheet after team line-ups are submitted.
  • Responsible for issuance of first aid supplies and safety equipment.
  • End of the Game: collect all field bases and the pitching rubber;
  • Call in the game scores to league director and report any incidents or issues;
  • Finally, submit the field game staff sign-in sheet and score sheets to the Division of Recreation main office in Room 8 City Hall.
  • Assist staff, participants, umpires, coaches, and umpires to ensure safe play at the field/park before, during, and after the game.
  • Opens and closes fields
  • Turns lights on and off at baseball fields for permits
  • Assists with transporting youth to programs and activities
  • Assist at Trainings / Camps
  • Keeps attendance
  • Completes monitoring chart
  • Submits any issues or concerns to supervisor
