The Park Facility Technician II performs a wide variety of skilled mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other trade-oriented tasks to maintain County parks, facilities, structures, and mechanical systems. All Park Facility and Sign Technician tasks may include routine construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and sign repairs, performing general work orders to support facility operations, as well as other related duties as assigned to support departmental initiatives. Additionally, all Park Facility and Sign Technicians are classified as “Essential Personnel” and may occasionally be required to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, and/or during emergency weather events.
*Hours Required for this position: 40~ Monitors the condition of life safety equipment and performs tests and inspections as directed by supervisor.
~ Repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, installs, and/or directs licensed contractors for the same related to skilled commercial plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems within County parks and facilities.
~ Performs general maintenance work related but not limited to: flooring, roofs, gutters, downspouts, furniture, light carpentry, walls, ceilings, concrete, locks, windows, trim, doors, and paint.
~ Purchases and/or receives quotes as directed for maintenance materials and supplies, and performs associated paperwork.
~ Maintains inventory to ensure sufficient stock on hand.
~ Transports, sets up, and breaks down tents, stages, tables, chairs, and related items as requested.
~ Installs and maintains gates, fences, bollards and similar security items.
~ Completes work orders in areas of light construction, maintenance, or transporting of items or equipment to support County initiatives.
~ Utilizes computers and other technology regularly.
~ Loads and unloads transported material and equipment.
~ Oversees and/or performs restoration or maintenance projects of parks amenities and facilities.
~ Follows proper safety policies and procedures.
~ Supports the County snow removal operation for County maintained sites, and works with the Parks Department when responding to countywide situations and emergencies as Essential Personnel for the County.
~ Provides related support for departmental events.Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Required: Minimum of two years experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or commercial maintenance field. Preferred: Experience working in multiple trade areas. Lead worker and/or supervisory experience.
Certifications/Licenses:
Required: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. First-aid/CPR and forklift certification or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess carpentry skills and abilities for maintenance and construction of park facilities. Possess plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills and abilities for maintenance and construction of park facilities. Ability to make precise and accurate measurements and execute detailed work. Ability to train others on sign-related equipment, tools, and practices. Ability to effectively demonstrate good public relations and communication skills. Knowledge and experience in the operation and input of information in a computerized work order system. Ability to read blueprints and understand production orders in order to calculate material lists. Ability to track supplies and order materials to maintain appropriate stock levels and inventory. Ability to operate small motorized equipment. Ability to work in varying temperatures and locations, including inclement weather. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Additional Requirements:
Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search and DMV driving record review with acceptable results. Following a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer physical examination. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description. Subject to twenty-four-hour on-call and work varied shifts as assigned.
