Responsible for monitoring and coordinating the STS Paratransit program to include processing applications, coordinating with clients, onboarding new clients into the program, scheduling of clients, recertification of clients and conducting public outreach programs. Performs a wide range of tasks to facilitate the effective operations of the County’s transportation systems; performs other duties as assigned.
The hiring salary for this position is $57,262 - $58,718 annually;full salary range for this position is $55,910 - $96,179.
- Responsible for monitoring and coordinating the STS Paratransit program;
- Reviews and processes paratransit applications;
- Works with paratransit applicants and clients with paratransit programs;
- Communicates regularly with clients and drivers to schedule and coordinate appointments and special needs;
- May generate, review and revise transportation schedules to ensure increased efficiency;
- Resolve appointment conflicts for STS Bus Drivers and customers or clients;
- Maintains driver accountability; provides performance evaluation input;
- May assist with the work of STS Bus Drivers and Transportation Dispatchers;
- May participate in community fairs and/or other special events pertaining to department operations;
- Maintains current knowledge of federal and state guidelines, departmental policies and procedures and the manual of St. Mary’s County Personnel Policies and Procedures;
- May be required to drive an STS bus,
- May schedule pick-up times for clients’ medical appointments and public transportation;
- Enters data into the computer and keeps records of clients and vehicles
- Ensures transportation system vehicles are in effective running order;
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Associates degree;
- Three or more years of public transportation or related experience related experience;
- Three years of administrative experience;
- Must have a CDL driver’s license with a Passenger endorsement or obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment;
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
Additional Requirements:- Position is classified as safety-sensitive and shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing as required under federal regulations;
- Must pass physical examination prior to employment;
- Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:Work demands occasional strenuous effort. May perform manual work involving walking over rough, uneven terrain, repeated bending, climbing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or handling moderately heavy equipment from 30 to 60 pounds. Must also have the physical ability to push/pull, squat twist and turn and have the ability to evacuate people from the bus in the event of dangerous conditions. Position may require rotating shift work of 10 hours per shift.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls.
