Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Paramedic, you will assist with patient care in the ED under the direction of the RN. The paramedic will perform emergency care procedures including assisting with Advanced Life Support under the direction of the physician. He/she is responsible to the ED RN or designee. You will also be responsible for patient safety and expected to keep knowledge and skills up to date. In addition, the paramedic will maintain proper channels of communication and keeps appropriate persons informed regarding patient's condition. Tasks and Responsibilities, you will: •Demonstrates appropriate priorities of care when admitting patients to the Emergency Department. •Assists in meeting and maintaining patient comfort needs, i.e. toileting, nutrition, pain management, rest positioning. •Show the ability to recognize signs of withdrawal and/or abuse of drugs and alcohol, and reports to ED Nurse/physician. •Identifies and reports signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to ED nurse/physician. •Distinguishes abnormal vital signs and informs the ED nurse/ physician. •Displays knowledge of the specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies for the specific patient population of the Emergency Department.
