Paralegal - Trusts & Estates
Premier Long Island law firm, Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., seeks a Paralegal to join our dynamic Trusts & Estates team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a minimum of three years’ experience in estate and trust administration and estate litigation to support a fast-paced and growing T&E practice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estate & trust administration
- Experience with the preparation of probate and administration petitions, estate and trust accountings, estate tax returns, and general Surrogate’s Court pleadings
- Working knowledge of applicable procedural law (EPTL, SCPA, CPLR) and local court rules, as well as a strong knowledge of New York’s e-filing system (NYSCEF)
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and coordination with clients, tax professionals, attorneys, and family members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and HotDocs
- Experience with estate tax and accounting programs
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Responsibilities:
Estate & Trust Administration
- Assist with preparation and filing of probate and administration proceedings in Surrogate’s Court
- Prepare and file petitions (probate, administration), waivers, citations, and related court documents
- Collect and organize asset/financial records information (bank accounts, real estate, investments)
- Prepare asset charts, informal accountings, and estate tax returns
- Communicate with executors, trustees, beneficiaries, accountants, and financial institutions
- Assist with distributions and estate closings
Litigation
- Support all types of Surrogate’s Court proceedings including Will contests, fiduciary disputes, and contested accountings
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery demands
- Coordinate service of citations and orders to show cause
- Manage document review, exhibits, and trial preparation
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, and calendars
General Administrative
- Provide administrative support to multiple attorneys in the Trusts & Estates department
- Proofread and organize legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence for accuracy and consistency
- Transcribe, scan, and electronically distribute legal documents
- Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and digital files
- Assist with overflow work within the department as needed
- Perform redlining, document formatting, and scanning

Hiring Range: $75,000 - $100,000.
Actual compensation will be determined by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, professional experience, education/training, and skills.
