Probate Paralegal (Part-Time, Temporary)

Location: Norwalk, Connecticut (On-Site)

Schedule: 24–32 hours per week (approximately 3–4 days per week)

Duration: Initial 3-month assignment with potential for extension

Compensation: $40–$55 per hour, depending on experience


About the Opportunity

A private law practice is seeking an experienced Probate Paralegal to provide immediate support on an active probate and estate administration caseload. This is a temporary, part-time position expected to last approximately three months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs.

The ideal candidate will have substantial Connecticut probate experience and be comfortable working independently on active estate matters with minimal supervision. Required in-office coverage on Fridays is part of the schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare final estate accountings and related estate closing documentation
  • Prepare and file initial probate documents to open estates in accordance with Connecticut Probate Court procedures
  • Manage probate filings, court deadlines, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with attorneys, Probate Courts, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and other interested parties
  • Maintain organized case files and monitor the status of active estate matters
  • Work independently to move probate matters forward efficiently and accurately
  • Provide client communication and support as appropriate based on experience and preference


Qualifications

Required

  • Prior experience as a Probate Paralegal handling Connecticut probate and estate administration matters
  • Hands-on experience preparing final estate accountings
  • Experience preparing and filing documents to open probate estates in Connecticut
  • Ability to independently manage multiple probate files simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to step into active matters and provide immediate support with minimal training

Preferred

  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Experience interacting directly with Probate Courts, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment
