Paralegal Specialist I-Municipal Law (Office of the County Attorney)
The Rockland County Office of the County Attorney is seeking candidates for one full-time, Paralegal Specialist I position for its Transactional team. This is an entry level paraprofessional legal work that involves the responsibility for performing a wide variety of legal functions, including but not limited to drafting, reviewing and verifying legal documents. An employee in this class may be required to work other than normal working hours. The work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level administrator or attorney. Does related work as required. There are multiple openings for this job specification.
Job Description:
Paralegal duties encompass a range of tasks that assist attorneys, judges or higher-level administrators in performing a variety of legal functions. These duties include conducting legal research, drafting and preparing documents and forms such as affidavits and resolutions, verifying citations in briefs and memos, ensuring accuracy of cited cases, collecting evidence and organizing materials for court proceedings. In addition, paralegals assist clients in understanding their rights and obligations and obtain relevant documents from those clients, manage schedules, handle document filing and facilitate correspondence within legal offices
