Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Packer to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Midnight Shift position are Sunday Night - Thursday Night 10:30PM - 7:00AM. Training on Day Shift M-F

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: $24.24; After 12 Months: $26.96

Position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The packer performs various duties in connection with the packaging and shipping of castings.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Receives castings and examines the accompanying lot ticket to determine if X-ray, Zyglo, Dimensional Inspection, Magnetic Inspection and other operations have been completed as required by a routing procedure sheet.
  • Coordinates with the supervisor to assure accuracy and completeness of previous operations and indicates any discrepancy.
  • Checks in Master Heat Log to determine if heat numbers and heat batches, coincide with the approved master heat certifications, if not call Heat Treat
  • Sorts castings according to heat numbers, alloy numbers and properly approved cavity numbers.
  • Types stencils from information supplied through marking instructions and memos from Quality
  • Packages marked castings into compartmented shipping containers.
  • Routes properly identified casting to X-ray in quantities predetermined by Supervisor and checks films returned with castings for coinciding and positioning.

INTERPERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     This job has frequent internal contact with production planning, quality and metal departments.
