Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to ensure quality and efficiency within the Nursing Department so we may continue to provide excellent patient care. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is the direct support between the doctors, hospital management, and nursing staff. They will be responsible for scheduling, employee performance, direct feedback, and training within their department. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor must maintain very high standards of culture, professionalism, accountability, while having the ability to communicate well with coworkers and management to ensure overall accuracy and satisfaction.
Compensation:
$37-$42 based on skill level/experience
We offer the highest industry-standard differentials for weekend and overnight shifts!
Anticipated Schedule:
Full Time
Options Include
Swing or Overnight or combination for 3 x12 hour shifts
2pm – 2am or 7pm – 7am (3 x 12- hour shifts)
4pm – 2am (4 x 10-hour shifts)
Rotating Saturday requirement/occasional weekend
Key Responsibilities: This position requires senior level skill-set and knowledge, exceptional discretion, and leadership skills.
Demonstrate and promote a positive culture and encouraging work environment
Provide enhanced support and training presence on floor to medical team
Provide clear image and frequently promote the shared values, goals, and direction of the hospital
Scheduling for the nursing team, including approving time off and coordinating coverage
Manage Dayforce (scheduling software)
Schedule arrangements for when doctor is away- staff assigned to alt department, cover other days, or take PTO
Communication & coordination between departments re. staffing, patient care, procedures, protocol, etc.
Promote and assist with training for new and existing staff members, coordinate with team leads/shift leads
Address staff concerns and performance issues in line with hospital expectations and Team Agreements
Provide feedback with Nursing Leader, toward team on staff performance for evaluations
Provide continuous feedback to staff- encouragement, reinforcement, and redirection
Document check-ins, skills assessments, goal setting and follow-ups
Assist with performance management, all levels of disciplinary actions, and documentation for nursing team members
Collaborate with Nursing Leader, team on staff and department needs
Encourage safe, happy, supportive, and progressive environment for staff to thrive
Discourage negativity, gossip, and toxic behaviors
Provide training and continuing education on and off the floor
Be an active representative and participant in events that contribute to marketing, the advancement of our hospital image, and growth
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a CVT, RVT, or LVT and preferably a minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience
Must be highly skilled and familiar with emergency medicine, specialty experience a plus
Must be open to giving AND receiving feedback
Capable of anticipating problems and proactively finding solutions
Ability to react quickly and appropriately during emergency situations, and remain calm under pressure
Excellent communication/people skills
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients
Ability to work with and without direct supervision
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
