OVERHIRE TEACHING ARTISTSPosition Type:Part-time, As NeededCharleston Stage is seeking applicants for Overhire Teaching Artists to deliver excellent,high-quality theatre education across our wide range of education programs. This is an idealopportunity for theatre educators seeking additional professional work who have the flexibilityand enthusiasm to step in as needed. Teaching Artist Overhires are contacted and interviewedon an as-needed basis. Applicants seeking a regular full-time or guaranteed part-time positionare discouraged from applying.We are looking for Teaching Artists who are highly qualified, enthusiastic about working withyoung people, and passionate about the mission and vision of Charleston Stage. TeachingArtists may work across multiple education initiatives, including:●TheatreSchool Classes:From September through May,Charleston Stage offersmulti-week TheatreSchool classes for students ages 3 through high school.●Productions & Performance Opportunities:TeachingArtists may be eligible to serveon artistic or production teams for student productions connected to TheatreSchoolprogramming.●Summer Camps:Teaching Artist Overhires may be invitedto work June throughAugust as integral members of the Charleston Stage Summer Camp staff.●In-School & Community Programs:Teaching in long-and short-term schoolresidencies, community partnerships, outreach programs, and other educationinitiatives throughout the year.Schedules will vary by program, time of day, and age group.Qualifications:Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, or a related field, orpossess equivalent professional experience. Candidates should be qualified to teach studentsages 3–18 in one or more of the following areas:●Musical Theatre / Choreography●Acting / Directing●Early Childhood & Elementary Theatre●Vocal InstructionAll Charleston Stage Teaching Artists are expected to:●Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate theatre instruction aligned withCharleston Stage’s curriculum and teaching methodologies.●Create and implement lesson plans based on defined and prescribed curricula. ●Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, students, and Charleston Stagestaff to maintain program quality.●Participate in professional development opportunities as needed, both for CharlestonStage Teaching Artists and the broader theatre education community.
