Job Title: Outpatient Surgery Coder 
Location: Remote
Shift (EST): Monday–Friday or Sunday–Thursday; 1st or 2nd shift (flexible)   Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review, analyze, and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient medical records
  • Focus on outpatient surgery, wound care, and observation encounters
  • Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using coding guidelines and CAC systems
  • Apply appropriate modifiers and procedural categories
  • Ensure documentation supports scheduled and performed procedures
  • Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards
  • Review coding work queues and collaborate with revenue cycle teams to resolve account issues within required timeframes
Qualifications & Requirements: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with EPIC is required
  • Coding experience required
  • One or more certifications required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H
  • AHIMA-accredited coding certificate preferred
  • Experience in multi-facility or remote coding environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures
  • Knowledge of payer regulations and reimbursement systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and coding systems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
